Our packaging process is thoroughly planned to ensure we are following the best practices possible. Although hops are not directly consumed the brewer does rely on the hop distributor to ensure integrity in the food-safe quality of hops. This should be enforced already prior to packaging but in-correct packaging does present the largest risk of misinformation, contamination and product degradation. Topp's Hops keeps facility sanitation, product labelling, inventory control, and packaging quality in its best interests to responsibly supply quality hops.
Packaging material is often overlooked when trying to find a reputable hop supplier. It is absolutely crucial to understand the difference in package materials like the degree of oxygen barrier or tensile strength. There is a lot of cheaper said to be package suppliers that often do not truly sell the superior hop packaging material Mylar®.
What is Mylar®?
Mylar is often used to generically refer to polyester film or plastic sheet. However, it is a registered trademark owned by Dupont Tejjin Films for a specific family of plastic sheet products made from the resin Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). The true generic term for this material is Polyester Film or Plastic Sheet.
Our packaging supplier is a licensed distributor of Mylar®.
